Molly-Mae Hague has always been open with fans about a large strawberry birthmark that she was born with that covered the top of her forehead before having it removed – but after the star released new pictures, fans are keen to understand more about the skin condition.
The 24 year old influencer first admitted to fans in 2021 on her social media that she had one and that it was “quite shocking” and still visible until she underwent surgery when she started secondary school.
The mum of one has now showed fans more pictures of how it looked as a youngster with more throwback pictures on her Instagram stories. She added that her “birthmark was really birthmarking at this age” on a sweet shot of a young Molly-Mae in a frilly bonnet hat, holding her infamous Ellie the elephant soft toy.
According to Clevelandandclinc the condition is rarely anything to worry about and that Strawberry Hemangiomas are a “clump of blood vessels that form a noncancerous tumour under the skin.

“It looks like a strawberry birthmark and can grow bigger, but they usually aren’t harmful.”
Although the trusted health site does state that they “typically fade away without treatment by the time a child is 10” Molly-Mae admitted that she decided to have it removed at 12 years old.
She told fans: “Over the years it’s colour faded but it only went from surgery. No one can believe it when I show pics if it.”
The star also revealed that she actually loved it. “I used to love that it was something no one else had and that it made me different.”
Molly-Mae isn’t the only celebrity to understand life with a strawberry birthmark – former reality star Lucy Mecklenburgh is familiar after her daughter, Lilah, was born with one on her head too. Sadly, the star has had to hit back at cruel trolls who targeted the tot.

A nasty troll commented on a beautiful shot of Lucy with Lilah, and said to her and her partner Ryan Thomas that the birthmark should be “removed asap as it’s really not nice to look at.”
Factually incorrect, the troll also continued to call the birthmark a “mole.”
The HSE makes it clear that these birthmarks are beyond anyone’s control and not caused by any wrongdoing during pregnancy.

“There are two types of birthmarks, both with different causes. Vascular (blood vessel) birthmarks happen when blood vessels do not form in the right way while pigmented birthmarks are due to an overgrowth of the cell that creates skin pigment (colour). ” They also agree that many disappear over time, without treatment.
Amy Childs’s daughter Milly also has one on her chest with the mum admitting on social media that she was worried at first. “”I was so worried about it. It was the unknown for me and wasn’t sure what it was, the doctor has checked it and all fine… a lot of messages people saying it will disappear… for now I think it makes her special.”
