Unless you’ve been actively avoiding the internet lately, it seems there’s one thing on everyone’s minds right now – Saltburn.
A combination of black comedy and psychological thriller, the movie has been just about all anyone can talk about since it dropped onto Amazon Prime at the end of December, and if there’s one thing that’s got everyone excited (no, not that bathtub scene), it’s the early 2000s setting.
As well as a killer playlist of 00s indie hits, there’s a distinctly Y2k edge to the stars’ fashion choices in the movie, with one item being a stand-out piece – Venetia’s tinsel jacket.

The jacket makes an appearance during one of the movie’s more uplifting montages – being worn whilst swigging champagne on a tennis court, no less – and is spotted on Alison Oliver, who plays Jacob Elordi’s character’s sister throughout the movie.
Whilst we can all aspire to be able to wear metallic fringing during a game of tennis, we also couldn’t help but think it would be the perfect pick for this year’s festival season, not to mention a summer essential for bringing a little bit of glitz and fun to our warm-weather outfits (which yes, we’re already daydreaming about), as well as being the perfect addition to our festive outfits when Christmas rolls back around. A truly versatile piece indeed.
Thankfully, the jacket is readily available for us all to buy, and thanks to Nasty Gal’s sale it’s actually ultra-affordable too, with the Metallic Tiered Tinsel Fringe Open Front Jacket reduced from £109 to just £65.40 here.

Nasty Gal confirmed it was in fact the brand’s jacket that was spotted on the screen, posting a snap of it glimmering away in the scene on Instagram and writing: “You either love it or hate it. Who’s watched Saltburn? Shop Venetia’s NASTY GAL Jacket, search for our Metallic Tiered Tinsel Fringe Open Front Jacket.”
Fans also commented: “Venetia is an iconic Indie Sleaze Queen and I was obsessed with this look. Immediately searched for the jacket.”
Another wrote: “I have this jacket. I was so excited to see it on screen,” whilst a third said: “I literally was watching jacket and was like that jacket is from Nasty Gal… have wanted to order it for forever!”

The Metallic Tiered Tinsel Fringe Open Front Jacket, £65.40 here. is made from a metallic tinsel in tiered shades of pink and purple, with long metallic fringing dangling from the entire jacket. Sadly the exact pink and purple colour combo worn in the movie is now sold out, but Nasty Gal does have several other colourways to choose from, including a completely gold version, a silver, turquoise and green combination, and a pink, blue and green one that looks the most similar to Venetia’s scene-stealing jacket.
