said the
Porvorim police
have busted a gang running a
fake call centre
out of a villa at
Nerul
from where victims in foreign countries were being cheated. Kaushal said investigations are on to gain clarity on the gang’s modus operandi. Three persons have been arrested so far, he said.
Police said the gang was busted late night on May 13 by
PSI Mandar Parab
and staff of the Porvorim police station.
Patel Perth, 31, from Ahmedabad, Arjun Bakaraniya, 26, from Amreri, Gujarat, and Subhodh Sharma, 43, from Mumbai, Maharashtra, were caught red-handed at Fottawado, Nerul.
They were seen in action at a fake call centre that they had set up in the villa to target victim callers from other countries, specially the US.
“The accused impersonated employees of American multinational technology company Microsoft by using laptops and mobile phones, and offered technical support and anti-virus plans etc to victim callers from foreign countries. They even charged the callers,” Kaushal said.
