In a startling incident in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a three-year-old boy named Zaeem Abbas was accused of stealing electricity. The FIR, filed jointly by Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) and Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA), was dismissed by the Additional Sessions Judge after receiving an affidavit.
This incident has emerged at a time when significant losses due to electricity theft have been revealed, totaling Rs 438 billion across various Power Distribution Companies (DISCOs).
To address this issue, the federal government has taken action by deploying officers from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to DISCOs. Their objective is to crack down on electricity theft and enhance the recovery of losses.
This development underscores ongoing efforts to tackle power theft issues in the region, aiming to improve accountability and ensure fair distribution of electricity resources.
