If there is one thing everyone forgets to do among the chaos of Christmas is to stock up on batteries. Whether it is to power your latest tech gadget, fairy lights, LED candles or to put into the little one’s latest light up, singing and dancing toy, batteries are always the thing you need but do not have on the big day.
Now Amazon has slashed a massive bulk pack that can be put in the cupboard ahead of Christmas. As part of the retailer’s Black Friday sale, 40-packs of Amazon Basics AA Alkaline Batteries 40-Pack have been slashed to £11, working out at 28p per battery.
By comparison, 24 packs of Duracell Plus AA batteries have been reduced from £20 to £13.99. That works out at 58p per battery – 30p more than the Amazon own-brand option.

The Amazon own-brand batteries have a five-year shelf life, making them ideal for long-term storage and emergencies. Whether it to power devices in the workplace, office or outdoors, these have got you covered.
The batteries have a 4.6 star-rating out of five on Amazon from over a whopping 60,000 reviews. One reviewer said: “Good value for money. Very good shelf/service life. Nothing to dislike.”
A second wrote: “Amazon batteries have consistently delivered reliable performance for me. Whether for everyday devices or high-drain electronics, they provide long-lasting power. I appreciate the convenience of bulk purchasing at competitive prices. The batteries have proven to be durable and have a decent shelf life. If you’re looking for a cost-effective and dependable battery option, Amazon batteries are a solid choice for various household needs.”
A third added: “Seem to be as good as branded ones and a good price for the amount. And it means I always have a some ready for when the next toy runs out in the never ending cycle.”

A fourth penned: “I use these batteries for all sorts of devices around and outside the home. They represent excellent value for money and have a reasonable lifespan. I am not able to confirm the five year shelf life as I don’t tend to store them for long. Most of them are used to fuel up my extensive collection of LED candles which do get a good hammering this time of year. I also use them in my digital camera where they do a sterling job. I recommend them.”
However one reviewer gave the batteries a three-star review and said ‘they just do the job’. The reviewer said: “These are a good bulk batteries. They come in a basic cardboard box which they are posted in. They seem to do the job but not yet sure if they last as long as leading brand names.”
But another said: “Excellent quality batteries, in my opinion just as good as the well known brand but a fraction of the price. I bought the larger volume for greater value as we go through quite a few batteries during the year. I would definitely recommend them.”
Alternatively, Amazon has slashed the price of 40 packs of GP AA batteries down from £19.99 to £16.48. Or you can get the Duracell Mega Family 60 Batteries Pack for £37.99 at Very.
