An American man faces a range of charges, including attempted murder, after he allegedly struck a woman in downtown Windsor with his vehicle on Saturday evening.
According to the Windsor Police Service, officers were called to the Riverside Drive West and Ferry Street area shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Dec. 23 for a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found the pedestrian who had been struck — a 21-year-old woman — who was then transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver had departed from the scene before police arrived.

Police determined the driver to be a 23-year-old man from Philadelphia who is alleged to have “deliberately hit the victim with his vehicle following a verbal altercation.”
Police say the man and woman were in an intimate relationship, and earlier that day, the suspect allegedly assaulted the victim and unlawfully detained her.
The suspect now faces charges of attempted murder, assault, assault by choking, forcible confinement, and failure to remain at the scene of an accident.
