Actress Rupali Ganguly penned a heartwarming note for her Anupamaa co-star Sagar Parekh as the latter’s journey on the show as Samar came to an end.

Anupamaa, one of the most popular shows on Indian television, has consistently ranked number 1 on the TRP chart since its premiere in 2020. Recently, a promo of the show hinted that Samar Shah, played by Sagar Parekh, will be killed off in the current storyline. This led to the speculation that Sagar was planning to quit the show. Now, the lead actress confirmed that Parekh is bidding adieu to the show.

Rupali Ganguly bids adieu to ‘favourite child’ Sagar Parekh
Rupali Ganguly took to social media and penned a long note as Sagar’s journey on the show came to an end. She referred to their onscreen bond as “one of the most beautiful mother-son bond created on television”. She shared that she thoroughly loved how detailed the mother-son relationship was in Anupamaa. She also called Samar her “favourite child”.
“A child who understands her , encourages her , gives her strength, holds her hand, treats her like a queen …. A son who is her world and for whom his mother is his world …This emotion was further amplified when Saagar came in as my Samar,” the popular TV actress wrote.
“Stepping into a well-established character is no easy task … but the scenes we have done in the last few days have delightfully surprised me with the range and the emotions you have displayed as Samar…. An extremely intricate yet balanced performance in the kitchen scene totally floored me. It is heartbreaking and emotionally draining and exhausting as Anupamaa bids farewell to her precious child … but my genuine love for you as a person has made it so much more believable for me to do … Perhaps it’s the final farewell of Anupama to Samar,” she added.
Samar’s response to Anupamaa’s message
‘Samar’ Sagar Parekh began his note by reminiscing about his first day on the set and the warm welcome he received from Rupali Ganguly. He recalled her words, “Welcome to Anupamaa, child!” as she greeted him with a warm hug.
In his note, the actor touched upon his transformative journey with Anupamaa. He acknowledged what Rupali and the entire team taught him on the show.
He thanked co-star Rupali for treating him like her own son. He also expressed gratitude towards Rajan Shahi, the producer of Anupamaa, for trusting him with the role of Samar. He said that it was a “golden opportunity” for him as he got a chance to prove his acting skills.
