Canada’s national junior team is headed to Windsor.
Hockey Canada announced on Thursday that the WFCU Centre will host the national junior team for four days as part of the team’s participation in the World Junior Summer Showcase event in Plymouth, Mich.
“We are incredibly excited to partner with Hockey Canada to bring the Canadian world junior summer camp to Windsor,” Spitfires’ co-owner and governor John Savage said in a release. “This event not only provides a fantastic opportunity for our community to see some of the best young talent in hockey, but also supports the development of future stars of the game.”

The team will assemble in Windsor on July 28 and hold two days of workouts before playing a Red and White scrimmage on July 30th at 7:30 p.m. Canada will then take on Sweden in a game on July 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Spitfire season ticket holds will receive an email for special members price. Otherwise, tickets for games go on sale at the WFCU box office starting on Friday at 10 a.m. at $30 plus fees per game or $45 plus fees for a two-game package. Tickets can also be purchased online at HockeyCanada.ca/Tickets
The two teams will then head to Plymouth to complete the World Junior Summer Showcase from Aug. 1-3. Canada will face Finland on Aug. 2 at 1 p.m. and the United States on Aug. 3 at 4 p.m. to close the event. Tickets for games in Plymouth can be purchased online at the USA Hockey Arena website or by calling 734-453-8400.
Also on Thursday, Ottawa 67’s head coach Dave Cameron was named to the same position for Canada’s world junior team. He guided the team to a gold medal at the 2022 tournament.
“Dave has won two gold medals at the world juniors and has proven to be an excellent leader of Canada’s national junior team and we are excited to have him return to our team as we look to reclaim gold in the nation’s capital this year,” Scott Salmond, who is senior vice-president of high performance and hockey operations for Hockey Canada, said in a release.
Fresh off a Memorial Cup championship, Saginaw Spirit head coach Chis Lazary was named an assistant coach along with Drummondville Voltigeurs’ head coach Sylvain Favreau and Portland Winterhawks’ head coach Mike Johnston.
The World Junior Hockey Championship is scheduled for Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Ottawa.
