Charges laid in downtown Saskatoon stabbing Monday afternoon

A 24-year-old man is charged after a 15-year-old boy was stabbed multiple times in Saskatoon’s downtown on Monday afternoon.

Saskatoon police were called to an altercation on the sidewalk near 21st Street East and Second Avenue South on Monday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., officers arrived and found a 15-year-old boy suffering from multiple stab wounds, police said in a news release on Tuesday.

He was taken to Royal University Hospital where he’s in stable condition, according to the release.

Police investigation uncovered video evidence of the incident and officers were able to identify a suspect, who was located by bike patrol officers and arrested later that evening, police said.

A 24-year-old man is charged with aggravated assault and breaching court ordered conditions. Police said the suspect and the teen did not know each other.
