Charlie Kirk Raises Alarm That Donald Trump Could Lose the Election

A $25 million political fundraiser described by the Biden-Harris campaign as the biggest of all time is causing outspoken conservatives to caution Donald Trump supporters about an uphill battle between now and November.

“An Evening with President Biden and Presidents Obama and Clinton” on Thursday at Radio City Music Hall in New York City is predicted to bring in a haul of more than $25 million. The sold-out, star-studded event will include more than 5,000 supporters and comes on the heels of $10 million in fundraising after the president’s most recent State of the Union address—the biggest one-day fundraising period during his current campaign cycle.

President Joe Biden’s approval rating and policies related to inflation, crime, immigration and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in Gaza have drawn consistent scrutiny from conservatives as he is likely to face Trump in a rematch of the 2020 election.

But the incumbent president, who along with Trump has already surpassed the required threshold of party delegates, has had a surge in recent polls. Eight separate polls published in March showed promising numbers for Biden, including leads or stalemates in consequential battleground states including Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Michigan.

Charlie Kirk, founder and president of conservative organization Turning Point USA, warned Republicans to stay vigilant considering the fundraising disparity between Biden and Trump as the pivotal months of the campaign have yet to unfold.

“This [$25 million] is more raised in one night than Trump raised the entire month of February,” Kirk wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “Democrats are beginning to fine tune their messaging, and they have a standing army of 5,000+ full-time organizers on the ground in the key states.

“We are outgunned and will be outspent. The polls are tightening. Time to get to work. The country is at stake.”

Newsweek reached out to Kirk via Turning Point for further comment.

The $25 million and change expected to be raised in one night will be more than the $20 million raised by the Trump campaign throughout the entire month of February, according to Politico.

Biden and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) are enjoying a massive financial advantage over Trump and the Republican National Committee (RNC), more than doubling the conservative money coffers with $97.5 million in cash compared to the $44.8 million for Republicans.

The RNC has experienced its own major shift months before polls close, with Trump ousting longtime chair Ronna McDaniel and replacing her with his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, who is currently a co-chair.

McDaniel, who agreed to leave her former post, had a very short-lived job at NBC after network hosts publicly ridiculed her hiring.

The event on Thursday will be kicked off by first lady Jill Biden, leading into a program hosted by actress Mindy Kaling and featuring musical guests Queen Latifah, Lizzo, Ben Platt, Cynthia Erivo and Lea Michele.

Biden will join former Presidents Clinton and Obama in a nightcap armchair conservation moderated by Stephen Colbert, host of The Late Show.

The Biden campaign says the haul tonight will nearly double the Trump campaign’s yield from January and will raise more than the Trump team brought in for December and January combined.

“This historic raise is a show of strong enthusiasm for President Biden and Vice President Harris and a testament to the unprecedented fundraising machine we’ve built,” Biden-Harris 2024 campaign co-chair Jeffrey Katzenberg said in a statement. “Unlike our opponent, every dollar we’re raising is going to reach the voters who will decide this election—communicating the president’s historic record, his vision for the future and laying plain the stakes of this election.

“The numbers don’t lie: today’s event is a massive show of force and a true reflection of the momentum to reelect the Biden-Harris ticket.”
