Cho Yi-hyun will star in KBS’ new TV series “The Matchmakers” set to air later this month.
The period drama, set in the Chosun Dynasty, revolves around a young widow of a noble family who works as a matchmaker and meets a young widower through her job.
Cho is expected to show her versatility and charms in her first role in a period drama.
“I felt pressure even before reading the script because it was a period drama,” Cho said. “But I was very attracted to the character after I read the script. I thought it would give me an opportunity to show a new side of myself and grow as an actress.”
Asked about her co-star, Rowoon, she said, “He has experience in different styles of TV series. I was really pleased to work with him as I have enjoyed his projects very much.”
She added, “He was very considerate, and I felt comfortable acting with him. We became close quickly thanks to him. Viewers can expect good chemistry between us.”
The new series is scheduled to begin airing on Oct. 30.
