The announcement deals a big blow to Msando’s family, who lost the former ICT manager who was found dead days before the 2017 elections.
Her eldest son, Peter Msando, who spoke to the press, revealed that she died due to multiple organ failure, adding that she had been hospitalised over high blood pressure and sugar problem.
He stated that his mother went into a coma on Thursday and was rushed to Avenue Hospital in Kisumu at around 1:00 pm. Thereafter, she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) but passed away on Friday morning.
He pointed out that she fell ill following the death of her son, who was murdered a week before the elections.
Msando, who was in charge of IEBC’s computerised voting system, was discovered in a thicket in Kikuyu Kiambu County.
The ICT head had only been on the job for two months before his death.
His tortured body was discovered alongside that of a young woman, 21 year old Carol Ngumbu.
Speaking at the time, his mother demanded justice for her son asking the government to bring his killers to book.
She added that she did not want to die before finding out what happened to Msando.
“I am troubled. I have not been eating well since July. I am sick because my son who used to take care of me is not there.
“Now, I have only one plea to the Jubilee government, tell me who killed my son and why,” she said at the time.
