CLARE BOSS Brian Lohan bemoaned the ‘shocking’ goals that cost his team in their Munster SHC opener against Limerick.
Before escaping Cusack Park with a three-point win, the All-Ireland champions were 1-15 to 0-9 behind entering the final quarter.

Limerick turned the game on its head in a matter of minutes
Diarmaid Byrnes, Donnacha Ó Dálaigh and Aaron Gillane all netted as Limerick staged a stunning late comeback.
And Banner boss Lohan felt that all three goals were preventable.
He said: “Goals change matches. They got a couple of handy ones and that was the difference.
“Poor defending, which we’re disappointed with, but it is what it is. We can’t do anything about it now. Losing a game that it looked like we were in control of is very disappointing.”
Aided by an Aidan McCarthy goal, Clare were five points to the good at the interval.
And they increased their buffer to NINE before Limerick’s goal glut changed the game.
Lohan added: “We did a lot of things that we hoped we’d do. We performed well for long periods of the game but didn’t see it out.
“Three shocking goals from our perspective. They happen sometimes. They happened to us and we have to see if we can respond to it now.”

Clare topped the table in last year’s provincial round robin despite starting their campaign by shipping five goals in a defeat to Tipperary in Ennis.
They must now aim to bounce back against Cork at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Sunday.

On the basis that he had yet to watch the replays, Lohan declined to comment on suggestions of a square ball for the goals scored by Byrnes and Gillane.
He added: “It’s the exact same as last year. A very poor display from us last year but we can take a lot of positives from last year as well, but a very poor result.
“We’re very disappointed to lose a home game, particularly having played so well for long periods of the game.”
