Forty-three-year-old Calvin Haywood of Cane Lane, Annotto Bay, St Mary has been charged with possession of prohibited weapon and unauthorized possession of ammunition following an operation at his home on Wednesday, June 12.
Reports from the Annotto Bay Police are that about 4:30 pm, a team acting on information and armed with a search warrant went to a premises occupied by Haywood.
Haywood upon seeing the lawmen ran and was later apprehended.
A Stoeger STR-9mm pistol along with fourteen 9mm cartridges was taken from his waistband. He was subsequently arrested and charged.
He is scheduled to appear before the Annotto Bay parish court on Friday, June 28.
