Seized brown sugar
In a major crackdown, the Special Task Force of the Odisha Police Crime Branch arrested a drug dealer and seized brown sugar weighing 1100 grams estimated to be worth over Rs 1 crore from his possession on Saturday.
The arrested accused has been identified as Suresh.
Sources in STF said, when Suresh went to Baghmari area in Khordha district, the STF personnel nabbed him. Besides the contraband, a motorcycle was also seized from his possession.
During the investigation, the Crime Branch came to know that Suresh used to go to Murshidabad to procure brown sugar. Then he would transport it to different districts by engaging some people. In return, the peddlers got commissions from Suresh.
The Crime Branch has plans to take Suresh on remand so that they can unearth the entire racket.
