farmers
, who have suffered
crop damage

torrential rain
, will receive

before

. He said that farmers, without Krishi cards or land in their names, will also be compensated through the CM Relief Fund.
“Govt has already asked the zonal agriculture officers to carry out surveys to ascertain crop damage and determine compensation for affected farmers.
Those sitting along the roads and selling their produce will also be compensated,” said Sawant, replying to a calling attention motion moved by Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral.
Several other legislators highlighted the difficulties of farmers from Farmagudi, Bandora, and other areas of Ponda and Quepem talukas. These cultivators, who are not original landowners, have seen their seasonal crops like cucumber, bitter gourd, ridge gourd, brinjal, radish, pumpkin, and jasmine flowers damaged by heavy rainfall over the past 15 days, said the legislators.
MLAs also said that some locals rely on these seasonal earnings and urged govt to provide financial assistance.
