The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced on Sunday that its Phase 4 expansion project is moving quickly. The goal is to open all three priority corridors by 2026. This project began in December 2019, after finalising the tenders. However, it faced significant challenges from 2020 to 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and delays in getting regulatory permissions.
The corporation posted on X, “DMRC has been working continuously on the Phase 4 project practically for the last one and a half to two years only, which gives the organization just about four years’ time to complete the entire work by the year 2026.”

The DMRC reported that 80 per cent of the civil work on the Majlis Park–Maujpur section is done. Tunnelling operations are also in progress on parts of the Aerocity–Tughlakabad (Golden Line) and Janakpuri West–RK Ashram Marg (Magenta Line) corridors.
A section from Janakpuri West to Krishna Park Extension on the Magenta Line is almost finished and is expected to open by August 2024. The Magenta Line currently runs between Botanical Garden and Janakpuri West, and this extension will stretch it further to RK Ashram.
