Diesel-Powered Engines Struggling Amidst Record-Breaking Texas Heat Wave

Diesel-Powered Engines Struggling Amidst Record-Breaking Texas Heat Wave

SAN ANTONIO, TX, July 16, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — The ownership of Texas Elite Auto & Diesel has a message for diesel car and truck owners in San Antonio – don’t neglect your automobiles during the seemingly never ending heat wave in southern Texas.

The San Antonio-based diesel engine repair specialists have reported a hefty increase in car and truck issues in recent weeks, nearly all of it due to the record heat wave that has engulfed the southern city since early June.

“While it’s true that diesel engines hold up better than gasoline powered engines in extreme heat, this is not your normal heat wave we’ve been experiencing over the last few weeks in southern Texas,” says Addam Bradshaw, owner of Texas Elite Auto & Diesel in San Antonio. “We urge everyone with diesel engines to pay particularly close attention to their vehicles and be on the lookout for any and all early warning signs.

“You know your car better than anyone. So if you notice anything out of the ordinary, stop in and see us for a checkup before things progress any further.”

Several weeks of record-breaking heat in southern Texas has resulted in dozens of deaths and hundreds of health-related emergencies and has put a serious strain on an already overworked electrical grid.

And there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight, at least in the short term, as forecasts call for continuing temperatures at or above the 100 degree mark.

Bradshaw offers several tips for keeping your diesel-powered engine as cool as possible during the relentless heat of a Texas summer, particularly during especially brutal ones like the area is experiencing thus far in 2023.

This includes ensuring that you have the right kind of coolant in the engine, reducing friction by having your vehicle regularly maintained, and making certain that your car has an adequate amount of time to both warm up and cool down on days of especially hot temperatures.

“We can help you protect your car during the hot summer months, but there are also several things car owners can do on their own to keep their vehicles running as efficiently as possible when temperatures reach 100 degrees or more outside,” says Bradshaw. “The most important thing is to just pay particularly close attention to your car or truck during these heat waves and don’t just assume that nothing is going to go wrong.

“When there’s a sustained period of especially hot temperatures, things are going to happen. Stay on top of the situation and get any issues taken care of before a small and relatively inexpensive problem morphs into a much bigger one.”

Texas Elite Auto & Diesel is one of San Antonio’s top automotive repair shops, particularly when it comes to diesel-powered engines. Their services range from preventive maintenance to brake repair and replacement, transmission repair and rebuilds and much more.

The company’s mechanics in San Antonio are certified by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and also provide mobile mechanic diagnostic services anywhere in the San Antonio area.
