On this week’s episode of Dinner SOS, food director and host Chris Morocco and deputy food editor Hana Asbrink help caller Jon find a red sauce recipe he (and his kids!) will actually love.
Jon came armed with an index card spelling out an old family recipe for tomato sauce, which, he admits…he never really liked. But he is determined, with Chris and Hana’s help, to find a recipe that will convince him good tomato sauce is achievable at home. He’s looking for something simple and satisfying for the adults and the kids.
Luckily, Chris and Hana know a thing or two about how to feed a parent’s youngest yet toughest critics. Their easy answer here? Stop focusing so much on improving the sauce and let the other components shine instead. Case in point: Hana’s Spaghetti and Verrry Tender Meatballs. It’s doable in just an hour and the real star is the meatball, which means it’ll be a crowd-pleaser for everyone, even sauce skeptics.
