Lakeshore residents are being asked for their input on E.L.K. Energy’s power needs.
The power company will hold a town hall meeting on Feb. 22 to seek the public’s opinions, saying in a release the event is an “opportunity to focus discussions on power needs and reliability, and opportunities to enhance the overall quality of service to E.L.K. customers in the community of Lakeshore.”

Jim Hogan, CEO of Entegrus, which provides management services to E.L.K., said the meeting is a key step to ensure “we build a resilient and sustainable energy future.”
Essex Mayor Sherry Bondy, who is chair of E.L.K., said community feedback is important for future investment in the company.
“We have worked diligently to regain lost ground after two decades of underinvestment in the utility,” said Bondy. “We have been making steady progress and look forward to sustaining this positive momentum by incorporating invaluable community feedback.”
Also attending the meeting will be Ward 4 Coun. John Kerr, who sits on E.L.K.’s board.
The forum takes place from 6 to 8 p.m at St. Simon & St. Jude Parish, 488 St. Charles St., in Belle River.
E.L.K. Energy is a local distribution company that services the communities of Belle River, Comber, Cottam, Essex, Harrow and Kingsville.
