The eThekwini Municipality is actively working to address water supply disruptions in various parts of uMlazi.
Constrained supply and inadequate inflow to uMlazi 2 and 4 Reservoirs, along with their dependent reservoirs along the Southern Aqueduct, cause this issue.

Municipal teams are diligently monitoring the situation. Overseeing Reservoir 2 at the Durban Heights Treatment Plant and primary reservoirs in the Inner West, South, and Central Regions fed by the Southern Aqueduct.

“The current operation of the Southern Aqueduct involves the constant monitoring of reservoir levels and pressure at critical points to ensure the system functions optimally,” said the eThekwini Municipality.

The Water Operations Team is conducting thorough investigations and tests on the trunk main between Durban Heights and uMlazi. Inspecting isolating valves, air valves, and pressure reducing valves for potential blockages and airlocks. The teams are also checking for leaks and bursts on the trunk main.
Affected areas
The affected areas, including uMlazi sections and other reservoirs like Ensimbini and Folweni, are experiencing disruptions. The municipality assures the public that updates on the situation will be communicated promptly.
