Arjuna Senapati, an 83-year-old resident of Ganganagar locality in Jeypore town of Koraput district, has had enough in his life. While he is supposed to be taken care of, he at this advancing age is taking care of his Divyang son.
While the people of his age are enjoying the care of their children, Arjun is not as lucky as them. But, he has never cursed his fate for this.
Arjun’s son Neelamadhaba is visually impaired since birth. Arjun has taken his son to several hospitals and spent whatever he had to get him cured. But eventually, his poverty forced him to leave the treatment midway through.
But, he has never neglected his son, who is now 50 years old. He is still giving him a bath and feeding him. If his son needs to go somewhere, he accompanies him. Most importantly, he never feels sorry or gets angry while doing the daily chores of his son. He has decided to take care of his son till he is alive.
“He is visually impaired since birth. I have since been taking care of him,” said Arjuna.
Narrating how his elderly father has been playing a role of a blind stick for him, Neelamadhaba said, “In the morning, he takes water to the toilet for me. He then gives me my shirt and pants, If I need to go out, he accompanies me.”
