The federal government has decided to freeze the monetized cost of free electricity units for senior employees of power companies and the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) at the existing level for the future, according to a notification from the Power Division.
The decision, approved by the cabinet on October 26, involves monetizing free electricity units for employees of Wapda, ex-Wapda companies, including distribution companies (Discos), generation companies (Gencos), National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC), and Power Information Technology Company (PITC).
Any changes in the rates of monetized units will require prior approval from the federal cabinet.
The move aims to rationalize electricity consumption and reduce the burden on the national exchequer.
The compensation for senior employees is based on the monetized cost of free electricity units they were previously entitled to.
