These are five big signs that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are slowly returning to their royal roles, despite their shocking exit from the Royal Family in 2020.
Sources close to Prince Harry have reportedly said he is willing to temporarily return to his royal duties while King Charles III receives cancer treatment. However, it might not be easy for Harry to rejoin the family as the arrangement he accepted when stepping down with his wife is set to stay in place.
Regardless of whether a return to royal life is on the cards, either part-time or temporary, the couple seem to be shifting more towards their royal beginnings recently, according to the Mirror. Here we look at five signs the Sussexes are slowly returning to their royal roles.
Titles prominent on website
One big sign is that their royal titles are prominently displayed on their new website sussex.com, which welcomes visitors to the ‘Office of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’.
When Harry and Meghan stepped back from the Royal Family in January 2020, they agreed to use their Duke and Duchess titles but not HRH for business purposes.
However, their decision to prominently display their titles has caused a stir among royal enthusiasts.
Royal historian Hugo Vickers told the Mirror: “It goes against everything the Sussexes promised they would not do. They are trading on their royal titles and associations in every way you look at it.”

Striking coat of arms
Not only are the titles front and centre on the site, but Meghan’s coat of arms is also featured, harking back to their royal days.
Meghan was given the coat of arms in 2018 before her marriage to Harry.
The shield’s blue background symbolises the Pacific Ocean near California, and the two golden stripes represent the sunny skies of Meghan’s Los Angeles home.
The three quills on the shield signify the importance of words and communication.
However, royal experts have noted an error with the design. Mr Vickers said: “The coat of arms used by the Sussexes is also outdated and redundant having five points of the label, signifying the grandchild of the monarch, rather than three points, denoting Harry as the King’s son.”

Meghan’s royal-esque engagement
Since deciding to call the US home, Harry and Meghan have bagged many deals with big entertainment outlets like Netflix and Spotify. Still, they’ve kept an eye on charities they backed while part of the Royal Family. This week saw Meghan making a video appearance similar to her royal engagements for a London charity event.
To honour an animal behaviourist friend, she sent a personal video message during the naming ceremony of a new rescue wing.
The former actress from ‘Suits’ spoke fondly of dog trainer Oli Juste, who introduced her to the Mayhew animal charity, leading her to serve as its patron for three years.
Meghan’s message was played to famous guests including actors Nigel Harman, Beatie Edney, Rula Lenska, and Laura Aikman at the opening of the Oli Juste Wing at Mayhew’s Centre in north London last Wednesday.
Sadly, Mr Juste passed away suddenly in January 2022. According to Mayhew, Meghan, a “dear friend” of Mr Juste, made a “generous” donation via her Archewell Foundation to keep his legacy alive. Her kind offering also funded the revamp of the kennels.
Vow to return
In terms of returning, Harry has hinted at making more trips back to his birthplace soon.
Earlier this month, he made a quick 25-hour journey back to the UK from LA to visit his father King Charles, shortly after learning about his cancer diagnosis.
Last week, in a heart-to-heart chat on Good Morning America, Prince Harry revealed his intentions to keep a regular touch with his family in England.
Just after having seen the King for the first time in months, he disclosed to reporter Will Reeve: “I’ve got other trips planned that would take me through the UK or back to the UK, so I’ll stop in and see my family as much as I can.”

Harry to reunite with Charles?
Intriguingly, there might be a chance of Harry reuniting with Charles. During the same heartfelt talk, the Duke unveiled that the King himself broke the news about his illness to him via a secret telephone call, prompting Harry to board a plane right away to meet him.
He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to spend any amount of time with his dad, saying: “Look I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane and go and see him and spend any time with him I’m grateful for that.”
He cleverly kept his cards close regarding the King’s health status per royal convention, stating it as a private matter “that stays between us”.
With talks of their ongoing fall-out, when quizzed if this sad news could serve as a catalyst for peace between them, Harry optimistically remarked: “Yeah, I’m sure. Throughout all these families I see it on a day-to-day basis the strength of the family unit coming together.
“I think any illness, any sickness brings families together.”
