BURKE, VA, December 18, 2023 /24-7PressRelease/ — Gary W. Schnurrpusch has been included in Marquis Who’s Who. With more than five decades of excellence in Navy military service and Defense Department warfare analysis, Mr. Schnurrpusch has earned distinction as a senior naval and joint maritime warfare analyst and independent operations research and systems analyst. Since 2019, he has focused his efforts on actively engaging in United States Navy online discussion groups and researching publications and think tank studies about military capabilities. Additionally, he is currently an elected trustee of the Burke Centre in Virginia.
Mr. Schnurrpusch served honorably as a Captain and Surface Warfare Officer for the United States Navy from 1969 until 1997. He served on seven ships during this time, including serving as Commanding Officer for the last three ships. He has been honored with several military awards, including two Legion of Merit Medals. He also served three assignments in the Pentagon, contributing important naval warfare analyses in support of critical decisions on the staffs of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Secretary of Defense.
Mr. Schnurrpusch gained a wealth of experience in analyzing the capabilities, requirements, strengths, gaps, and innovative concepts in support of critical decisions by the Department of Defense. He has particular expertise in analysis of multi-mission surface combatant operations, multi-dimensional battle force employment, Integrated Air and Missile Defense, and Anti-Submarine Warfare, campaign analysis and wargaming among other areas.
Following his active Navy service, Mr. Schnurrpusch worked as the Group Leader for the Naval Surface Warfare Analysis Group at Systems Planning and Analysis, Inc. from 1997 to 2014. He subsequently worked as the senior naval warfare analyst and Naval Simulation System (NSS) modeler from 2015 to 2017 at Leonie Group in support of the staff of the Secretary of Defense. From 2017 to 2019 Mr. Schnurrpusch served as the senior advisor and operations analyst in naval warfare and joint capabilities as an adjunct research staff member for the Institute for Defense Analyses.
Mr. Schnurrpusch earned a Bachelor of Science in mathematics from Illinois State University in 1969. Following this achievement, he attained a Master of Science in operations research and systems analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1975. Looking to the future, Mr. Schnurrpusch intends to serve as a resource or mentor to young analysts and Naval officers who are rising in their careers. He also plans to continue to contribute to bettering the quality of public and secondary education, and the nation.
