Erling Haaland becomes the fastest player to reach 50 Premier League goals in his 48th match after scoring in Manchester City’s draw with Liverpool on Saturday.
Andrew Cole previously held the record as the fastest player to score 50 goals in 65 games for Manchester United in 1999.
Haaland scored mid-first half as Trent Alexander-Arnold’s late equaliser gave Liverpool 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.
Ruben Dias thought he had added City’s second, only to see his goal ruled out for a foul on Alisson, before Alexander-Arnold made Pep Guardiola’s side pay for a failure to kill Liverpool off.
Alexander-Arnold had a tough game defensively trying to contain the lively Jeremy Doku, but demonstrated his quality 10 minutes from time with a crisp, low strike from the edge of the area that gave Ederson no chance.
On added time, Haaland reacted well and displayed good awareness inside the box to get on the end of the resulting corner kick. He failed to direct the ball into the net as it flew narrowly wide of the right post.
