Hated Macron Paris riot humiliation sees ‘door open’ for Le Pen

France riots: Yamaha store looted

An exclusive poll for Express.co.uk has conformed that the riots tearing France apart this week has opened the door for rightwing Marine Le Pen to win the French presidency.

The stunning polling by the Washington DC based Democracy Institute of 1,000 French voters has revealed 51 percent would pick the National Rally leader over Macron on 47 percent.

With French cities burning in the wake of police shooting and killing a French Algerian teenager, the polling reveals that 63 percent now want a state of emergency declared.

Meanwhile, 41 percent of French blame migrants for the troubles and 30 percent Marcon while only 16 percent point the finger at the French police.

The troubles have proven to be a perfect storm for Ms Le Pen’s party, the more moderate version of the Front National founded by her father, the French fascist Jean-Marie Le Pen.

While, Ms Le Pen has banished her father’s former racist and anti-semitic policies she has campaigned on a need to take a much tougher policy in tackling both legal and illegal immigration.

France has seen an even bigger surge of illegal migrants than the one in the UK symbolised by the small boats crossing the Channel.

The riots have underlined a growing level of racial tensions within France, especially some of its major cuities including Paris, Marseille, Lyon, Toulouse, Strasbourg and Lille.

Violent protests have spread across France after police shot and killed 17-year-old Nahel Merzouk at a traffic stop.

So far more than 2,000 people have been detained and 45,000 police officers have been deployed nationwide.

The polling shows that almost two to one French now disapprove of Macon with 61 percent disapprove and 32 percent approve.

The survey was carried out on July 1 to 3 during some of the worst violence in the country.

Democracy Institute director Patrick Basham said: “This poll Tperfectly sums up the past week across much of France, at least according to French voters.”

In another sign of how the rightwing in France is using the crisis, Jean Messiha, a former adviser to the French far-right politician Marine Le Pen, has raised 1 million euros (£840,000) for the police officer who shot the 17-year-old.

The next French Presidential election is in 2027.

However, last year, Ms Le Pen recorded the best result for her party ever taking 41.5 percent in the final run off against Macron.

This compared to the 33.9 percent she achieved against Macron five years before in 2017 and the 17.8 percent her father achieved against Jacques Chric in 2002.
