He Invited Me Out On A Spa Date But Ended Up Taking Me To A Hotel Room

If I had the power to erase one day in my life, it would be the day I ended up in a hotel room after being promised a spa date. I’m not usually duped easily but there must have been something in the water the day I met Ethan. I completely let my guard down because I had been dealing with a lot of things and Ethan seemed like he understood my situation and that he wanted nothing but the best for me. However, he turned out to be an opportunist just like the men I had dealt with in the past. 

I wasn’t always sceptical about everything but life taught me that most, if not all, people have ulterior motives. I have been betrayed by nearly everyone in my life. From best friends to family members, everyone that I trusted has stabbed me in the back. This made it difficult for me to meet new people since I didn’t trust anyone which left me feeling alone in the world.

Whenever I had a problem, I had no one to talk to which was why I ended up opening up to Ethan. There was a lot happening in my life at that moment. I had hit hard economic times that made it difficult for me to afford some of the most basic things for me and my son.

“Mum, can we go for ice cream this weekend?” My son asked innocently.

“We can’t afford ice cream right now,” I explained to him and watched his happy face change to disappointment.

I had to take on a side hustle as a supermarket attendant so I could make ends meet and it was draining me mentally and physically. Within two months, I looked like a shell of the person I used to be. I barely slept or ate because I was so focused on making money. I also wasn’t being paid enough but at least I could pay my rent and put food on the table.

The only reason I held on to the job was because I thought it would give me an opportunity to meet a better employer or even a rich man who could take care of me and my son. I was tired of being a strong, independent woman. I wanted the soft life that other girls had.

All types of men came in and out of the supermarket every day yet no one ever asked me out. I started to feel like I wasn’t good-looking enough.

“It’s not that you’re not good-looking. You’re actually one of the prettiest girls in this supermarket. You just don’t smile or talk to anyone and you’re always on your phone.” My coworker told me.

“I can’t help it. I’m not a social person.”

“I wasn’t either but I had to fake a smile every day I came to work until I got used to it. Try it tomorrow and see the difference.”

I dropped my standoffish attitude and started smiling and sure enough, people started approaching me. However, they didn’t just ask me questions about the products, they wanted to get to know me which was a bit overwhelming. The only good part was that I got a higher commission.

Ethan came into the supermarket on a Wednesday afternoon. It was a slow day so many of us were just sitting around.

“Hi, where can I get the eggs?”

“They’re on that aisle,” I said, pointing at the aisle. 

“Okay, thanks. I have been walking in circles for a couple of minutes.”

For the first time in a long time, I laughed genuinely. It felt strange but good. As he walked away, I offered to walk him to the aisle.

“Let me take you there so you don’t walk in circles again.”

He also laughed.

We chatted on our way to the aisle and I realized that Ethan was not the typical guy. He was very thoughtful which was unusual in this day and age.

“You must be tired from walking up and down this supermarket every day.”

“Yeah, but I have to do my job.”

Well, if you need someone to massage your feet, I know a great spa.”

His offer took me by surprise. No one had ever taken me to a spa date, not even my baby daddy. I didn’t have the luxury of playing hard-to-get so I gave him my number. Besides, it’s not every day that I meet a handsome and kind man so I wasn’t going to take my chances.

We kept in touch and he followed through on his promise to take me on a spa date.

“When are you free so I can take you to the spa I told you about?” He asked over the phone.

“I don’t have work tomorrow.”

“Perfect. Let’s meet in town then we can head there together.”

I made sure that I prepared myself so that everything would go smoothly that day. I woke up early in the morning to go and get my hair done, booked a babysitter for the day and then prepared to leave.

“You look so pretty, mum.” My son commented.

“Thanks, baby. I’ll be back soon. Be a good boy.” I said as I headed out.

I met Ethan at the place we agreed and he didn’t look like he was dressed up for a date which made me feel like I was trying too hard.

“You look amazing.”

“Thanks.”

“I hope you don’t mind walking.”

“Why? Where’s the spa?”

“It’s actually not far from here.”

I knew that there were spas in town but the way Ethan had hyped it up, I expected it to be somewhere serene. Nonetheless, beggars can’t be choosers so I followed him to the alleged spa.

I noticed that we entered a hotel but didn’t think much of it since many hotels had spas. However, this hotel didn’t look like it had one so I thought we were making a detour before going for the spa date. Ethan asked me to wait at the reception as he organized everything. Shortly after, he returned with room keys in his hand.

“Let’s go.”

“Where are we going?” 

“To the room.”

“I thought we were going to the spa. What are we going to do in the room?”

“We need somewhere to change and leave our belongings.”

I started to feel uneasy but gave him the benefit of the doubt. When we got to the room, he locked the door and hid the keys. That was when I realized that there was no spa date. He had brought me to a hotel room to have sex with me.

“Can you unlock the door? I want to leave.”

“Don’t be like that.” He tried to convince me to stay and even promised to pay me which only made me feel more disgusted.

When I realized that he wasn’t going to open the door, I called the front desk to help me. They were hesitant at first but after I threatened them, they came to open the door and I couldn’t run out of there fast enough.

It turns out that the hotel was a known place where men brought sex workers to sleep with them. The hotel staff must have thought I was one of them which was why they were hesitant to open the door.

I felt so humiliated and my scepticism about people only increased. I stopped trying to be nice because it always seemed to backfire on me.
