Yes, there are in fact a few right ways to crack an egg. The less we have to deal with cleaning and the more time we have for eating, the better. According to him, cracking an egg on a flat surface is the true way to go. While it may seem a bit odd to hear at first, there’s more to the story. Dropping it on the flat surface actually serves to keep the egg more intact than breaking it completely on an edge. This way, you have less chance of shell spillage and broken yolk. Amazing. Now, we just need to learn how to flip an egg without breaking the yolk.

How Does This Work?

Jordan explains that cracking an egg on a flat surface keeps the membrane in place. That means the shell will make a perfect break without spilling or getting little crunchy specks in your food. It’s important to note that dropping on a pan or plate is ideal (you don’t want any spillage on your counter by accident), and the height should be about six inches or so above the surface.
