Forget about Michael Jordan betting on coin flips. We have a new clubhouse leader for the wildest NBA betting story.
During the latest episode of The Big Podcast with Shaq, Shaquille O’Neal interrupted an ad read of The General insurance to tell an absurd story about how he ended up endorsing the company — and how it all has to do with the Maury show.
Apparently, Shaq used to watch the daytime talk show and gamble with teammates on the paternity tests that became a staple of the program. According to the big man, these bets reached thousands of dollars at a time.
So what does that have to do with The General?
Well, the company ran ads during the Maury show. Shaq said hearing the jingle over and over again got it stuck in his head and was a main reason why he agreed to make new commercials with them.
He also had a more personal reason for accepting the offer, too.
Check out the clip below where he chats about all of this with Adam Lefkoe and Udonis Haslem.
