I Found Out My DJ Boyfriend Was Cheating On Me After He Dedicated A Song To His Special Lady And Two Other Women Cheered

I think I was warned about dating a DJ a thousand times but who am I to listen? It can’t be that bad, I thought. It turns out it is that bad and if you’re thinking of dating a DJ, don’t. There’s endless drama and every day, you’ll hear a story about your man and another woman. However, I thought that I would be the exception. I’m pretty and fun which are ideal characteristics for dating a DJ. I also thought that Fred wasn’t a player like other DJs. 

Fred and I met at the club he worked at. I went with a group of friends and he noticed me. As the night grew older, he mastered the courage to talk to me. To be honest, I’m not usually attracted to such types of guys but Fred said all the right things and I fell for him.

“I’ve never seen you around.” He started.

“Do you remember everyone who comes here?” I asked, slightly irritated.

“I can never forget such a pretty face. You’re so beautiful,” he said.

I had been told that I was beautiful so many times before but there was something about the way he said it that made me feel special.

He was right. I hadn’t been to that club before. My friend had suggested that we try it out and I was happy that we did.

After a brief conversation, he went back to his DJ booth and rocked the club. We were on our feet the whole night and people kept praising him for his mix. I wanted to stay at the club the whole night but around 3 am, my friends were tired and wanted to leave. Fred must have noticed that we were preparing to leave and he came by our table.

“Are you leaving?” He asked.

“Yeah. My friends are tired.”

“It was nice seeing you. You made my night.”

“You made my night too.”

“Can I get your number?” He asked.

We exchanged numbers and before I left, he bought me a shot of tequila.

“One for the road.” He said as he handed me the shot.

I smiled then downed it and picked up my things. 

“I’ll see you later,” I said to him then ran to catch up with my friend.

I smiled to myself all the way home and kept replaying the events of that night and longing for the next time I would see Fred. Luckily, one of my colleagues was having a birthday and since I was the certified party girl of the office, they asked me where they should go.

“Have you been to The Tavern?” I asked

“No, but I’ve heard of it.”

“We should go there.”

After work, we all freshened up in the bathroom and then headed to the club. However, Fred was nowhere in sight when I got there. I looked around every few minutes and didn’t see him. Finally, I asked one of the waiters if he was around.

He laughed then said, “His shift starts at 9 pm.”

I breathed a sigh of relief knowing that I was going to see him later that night. As soon as the clock hit 9, I saw Fred making his way to the DJ booth and my heart skipped a beat. He kicked off his set and occasionally dedicated a song to “his special lady”. 

After playing for an hour, he took a break and came to say hi to us. 

“I didn’t think I would see you so soon.” He said.

“Me either. My friend wanted to celebrate her birthday and I immediately thought of this place.”

“Well, I’m happy to see you again and happy birthday.” He said to my colleague.

When he left, the girls gave me a look that betrayed their thoughts.

“So, that’s why you wanted to come here. He’s cute.” My colleague teased me.

I didn’t leave with my colleagues like before. Instead, I waited for Fred to finish his set and we drank and talked till daybreak.

“It’s 7 in the morning!” I said after checking the time.

“Yeah. Do you want to go home?”

“I want to go home with you.”

“Okay,” Fred answered excitedly and we left.

Our relationship grew quickly. We would talk every day and I’d make an effort to go to the club at least three times a week to see him. It was fun and light-hearted which was a good change from the previous relationships I had been in.

I had become such a frequent at the club that the staff knew me. As soon as I arrived, they would let me know what Fred did during the nights that I wasn’t around. I didn’t ask for the information nor did I want it but they insisted on telling me.

“Fred has really changed. Nowadays he just DJs and then goes home.” One of the waiters told me.

I was happy to hear that considering the reputation that DJs have. However, I always knew I had nothing to worry about with Fred. He was different or so I thought.

After three months of dating, Fred’s true colours started to show. He started hiding his phone and when I went to see him at the club, he wasn’t as excited as he used to be. I thought that maybe he was feeling smothered but I soon found out the real reason for his sudden change in attitude.

During one of my frequent club visits, Fred dedicated a song to his “special lady” as he did occasionally and I smiled. Then I heard two girls cheer which had never happened before. I had also noticed that these two girls were making flirty comments about Fred. So, I went to their table to confront them.

“You girls seem to be having fun,” I said but they didn’t respond. “Do you know Fred?”

“Of course, he’s my boyfriend.” One of the girls said.

“Okay,” I said nonchalantly then went back to my table and waited for Fred to leave the DJ booth.

When he came to my table, I decided to ask about the girls.

“Do you know those girls?”

“Not really. I’ve seen them around a few times.”

“They’ve been flirting with you the whole night.”

“They have? I didn’t notice.”

As we talked, the two girls came to our table and started flirting with Fred in front of me. It was clear that Fred was lying and he knew them very well. I connected the dots and figured that he was sleeping with one of the girls. 

I watched him as he tried to get her to leave and wondered how I got myself into such a situation. Finally, he managed to get rid of them and tried to pretend like nothing was wrong but I had already caught on to his lies.

I didn’t tell him that I knew what was going on. I simply left the club and never went back. When he tried contacting me, I ignored his calls until he got tired. It was unfortunate because I liked the club and the staff liked me too. I had to find another club and build relationships with other people.
