After months of fighting, and thousands of killings, a rift between the Israeli military and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu can be seen tearing down their front as more and more generals are demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.
The top generals want to begin a ceasefire in Gaza, as they believe it would be the best way to free the 120 Israeli hostages held by Hamas, New York Times reported.
In addition, the truce would give the forces time to recuperate in case a war breaks up between Hezbollah and Israel and also help ease up the tensions between them.
However, Netanyahu has refused to budge, further widening the gap.
According to Middle East Monitor, more than 800 senior Israeli army officers, including colonels and colonels, have submitted their resignations this year.
Lebanon’s Hezbollah has said that it will keep striking northern Israel until Israel agrees to stop the attacks in Gaza.
