ISSA remains firm in its decision on JC’s two Ghanaian athletes

ISSA president Keith Wellington says its decision to deny two Ghanaian Jamaica College athletes from competing at this year’s ISSA Boys and Girls Athletics Championships remains final.

Jamaica College had appealed ISSA’s decision to rule  long distance runners Evans Tetteh and Dominic Amponsah ineligible for this year’s championships set for March 19-23.

However, this was thrown out by the governing body for local high school sports.

This led to Jamaica College writing to the Minister of Sports Olivia Grange, asking for her intervention in the matter.

But when Radio Jamaica Sports caught up with Wellington at the recent “Champs” launch earlier this week, he said ISSA will not be moved on its decision.

Both athletes arrived in Jamaica on October 4 of last year.

ISSA’s rule states that to be eligible to compete at any competition within the same school year, a student must be in school by September 30 the latest, of that school year.
