Manjuvirattu, a form of Jallikattu, involves people chasing the bulls as they run down a long corridor, ringed by a cheering audience.

In Madurai’s Eliyarpathi, a Jallikattu bull tethered to a post ahead of the Pongal event charged at and gored a 22-year-old man.
Police booked the bull’s owner for culpable homicide not amounting to murder based on a complaint by the victim’s father, who accused the former of laxity in handling the aggressive animal.
