The Jamaica Defence Force Air Wing on Friday rescued 24 people who were trapped in floodwaters since yesterday, at the intersection of Amity Hall and Golden Grove in St Thomas.
Following the search and rescue, they were airlifted to the Wheelersfield Community Centre.

Rain associated with a weather system, potential tropical cyclone number 22 has been battering the island since earlier this week and have resulted in flooding in 10 of the island parishes, St Thomas being one of them.
A tropical storm watch, which has been in effect for the island since Thursday, was on Friday afternoon lifted. However, the Met Service said the rains will continue for a while longer.
