There are plenty of opportunities this weekend to learn about the city, with its variety of cultures and foods and its rich history.

1 — Take in a cultural market

The South African Market is a celebration of South African culture. Enjoy food and baking, handmade arts, groceries, jewelry and clothing. Bouncy castles will be on site for younger children. The market is Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at 120 Apex Street. Learn more on Facebook.

2 — Don’t miss a Canadian album tour

Canadian duo Tegan and Sara are coming to Saskatoon on their Crybaby Tour. The Juno Award-winning sisters released Crybaby, their 10th studio album, in 2022. The songs on the album focus on the empowerment that comes from choosing to be vulnerable. They perform with guest Debby Friday on Saturday at TCU Place at 8 p.m. Learn more at tcutickets.ca.

3 — Enjoy a food festival

The ninth annual PlayNow Food Truck Wars Street Festival features more than 25 food trucks, trailers and booths offering a variety of food, desserts and beverages. The festival includes food competitions, a street market and cultural dancing. The family- and pet-friendly festival runs noon to 8 p.m. daily through Sunday along Fourth Avenue and 23rd Street and in Civic Square. Learn more at foodtruckwarsyxe.com.

4 — Tour the Forestry Farm

Friends of the Forestry Farm House present a walking tour and open house. Take a look inside the Superintendent’s Residence and tour the Saskatoon Forestry Farm Park, learning about its history and its impressive collection of trees and shrubs. The house is open Sunday at the Saskatoon Forestry Farm from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., followed by the tour. Learn more at fffh.ca.

5 — Learn about vintage sewing

The Marr Residence hosts an open house with a focus on vintage sewing. Interpreters and members of the Victorian Sewing Circle will be on-site to share information about historical costuming. The event is Sunday at the Marr Residence from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Learn more on Facebook.
