My wife and I feel that the new crosswalk and new walk light on 22nd Street at Avenue V represents a colossal waste of money and manpower to construct this controlled walkway when it was quite apparent from observing foot traffic in this area that it would not be used.
People can’t be bothered taking extra steps. They cross between Avenue V and Avenue W instead, as they always have.

While my wife was having coffee near the new crosswalk recently, she observed at least 10 groups of people crossing mid block and ignoring the crosswalk lights.

Middle East article missing real context
I was reading your article by Jim Harding on the Israel-Hamas conflict and it made me concerned. The title of the article is “Historical context vital to assess conflict” and the article gives absolutely no context whatsoever.
If this is the title of your article, I would hope that the author would at least give the history of the area and how they ended up in the situation they are in.
But instead it ignores 95 per cent of the history and spews pro-Hamas (which is a terrorist organization, recognized as such by most of the world, including Canada) rhetoric. As an avid reader of your newspaper, it sickens me to see this.
It would be much appreciated by all of us readers for unbiased and well researched content. Why were Arabs of the area pushed out of their land? What events happened that led up to these events? How many wars were started by surrounding nations before this exodus?

Now, obviously, there is no one innocent in this situation, and both sides have made grave errors that have cost way too many people their lives. But we need unbiased information and this article is adding to the problem.
