While I was in hospital recently, an email went out announcing the retirement of my general practitioner. By the time I got home, all spaces with other doctors had been filled. I have been with this clinic for 21 year and so it felt like I had a gut punch and it is scary.
When are we going to be smart enough to invest in medical candidates? Years ago, we paid for doctors and nurses, and they signed an agreement to spend so many years here after graduation to reimburse the province.

Closing compost dump could be costly
The city is considering closing the east-side compost dump. Sure, close it down, but be aware of the implications. City parks employees will waste fuel and time having to drive across the city to the west depot.
There will be increased dumping in ditches by disgruntled citizens, requiring clean up by city employees. Fossil fuel emissions will increase. So the cost savings touted might not be anywhere near what will actually be realized!
