Entertainer Allan Ochieng, better known as Hype Ballo, gained widespread recognition among Kenyans following the tragic death of a DCI officer last month.
With speculation surrounding the case, questions have arisen regarding Hype’s alleged involvement. Born and raised in the Woodley suburb of Nairobi, Kenya, Ballo has established himself as a professional hype man, MC, and footballer.
His journey began in 2014 as a dancer, gradually ascending to his current status in the entertainment industry.
His professional career took off under the guidance of Genius Entertainment, founded and led by DJ Sadic, a notable figure nominated for awards at the prestigious Groove Awards festival.
Hype Ballo’s collaboration with Kris Darling further propelled his success, followed by a significant period working alongside DJ Pierra before eventually partnering with DJ Joe Mfalme.
However, a tragic incident altered the trajectory of Hype’s career this year. While returning home from a performance one night, their vehicle was allegedly rear-ended by a car owned by the late Felix Kelian.
This encounter reportedly escalated into a confrontation, leading to Detective Felix Kelian’s fatal injuries and subsequent death. Multiple arrests were made, culminating in Hype Ballo facing murder charges.
Following legal proceedings, Hype Ballo was released on a Ksh 500,000 cash bail under specific conditions. They were;
1. Attend all court sessions
2. Report to DCI Kikuyu Sub-county monthly
3. Remain under the supervision of the Kibera area chief until the conclusion of the case.
Lady Justice Dorah Chepkwony scheduled the next court appearance for May 22, 2024, for pre-trial and scheduling of a hearing date.
