Spirit of Tasmania IV, an LNG-powered car and passenger (RoPax) ferry built for Tasmanian TT-Line Company, has completed its second sea trial.
According to a social media update from the ferry’s shipbuilder Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC), Spirit of Tasmania IV wrapped up the second sea trials and returned to the shipyard on July 23.
The trials were conducted to test the ship’s systems and performance. Set for delivery in August this year, Spirit of Tasmania IV will operate between mainland Australia and Tasmania on the Bass Strait.
To remind, TT-Line and RMC finalized the agreement for the construction of two car and passenger ferries in 2021.
Construction of the first vessel, Spirit of Tasmania IV, began in February 2022 and the launching ceremony was held in October 2023.
The second vessel, Spirit of Tasmania V, was launched on July 19, 2024, and is scheduled for delivery next spring.

The newbuilds will be equipped with four Wärtsilä 46DF dual-fuel main engines, three Wärtsilä 20DF dual-fuel auxiliary engines, and two Wärtsilä LNGPac fuel storage, supply, and control systems.
The ferries will have a capacity of 1,800 passengers and approximately 2,500 lane meters on two freight decks.
