Aug. 4 (UPI) — South Korean series Hellbound has resumed production.
Netflix announced Thursday that production is underway on Season 2 of the dark fantasy series.
The streaming service shared the news alongside a video that shows writer and director Yeon Sang-ho (Train to Busan) and the cast and crew at a table read and beginning filming.
Hellbound is based on Yeon and Choi Gyu-seok’s webtoon The Hellbound. The series takes place in a world where supernatural beings suddenly appear to condemn certain people to hell. A cult-like religious group, the New Truth Society, takes advantage of the fear and chaos.
Season 1 starred Yoo Ah-in, Kim Hyun-joo, Park Jeong-min, Won Jin-ah and Yang Ik-june, with Kim Sung-cheol to join the cast in Season 2.
Netflix announced Season 2 alongside a teaser in September 2022.
The new season will explore “the themes of mortality, sin, and justice with greater scale and depth,” according to an official release.
