Malabon shares best housing practices in Australia summits

The Malabon City government shared its best housing practices during two housing research conferences held in Australia last week, Mayor Jeannie Sandoval said.

Sandoval praised City Administrator and concurrent head of the City Housing and Urban Development Department Alexander Rosete who was a presenter at the Joint Australian Housing Research Conference and Asia-Pacific Network for Housing Research – 13th Australian Housing Researchers’ Conference at the University of South Australia – City West Campus, City of Adelaide, Australia.

The conferences were attended by housing research scholars and practitioners from the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other countries from Asia and the Pacific.

Included in Rosete’s presentation was his research on the management of Manila’s Land for the Landless Housing Services Program, which discusses initiatives of the city of Manila in providing homes for its citizens.

Rosete was the former chief administrative officer and director of the Manila Urban Settlements Office.

He told The Manila Times via Viber that Malabon and Manila have been implementing a “life changing” tenure security program for urban land tenants.

“The program seeks to provide lots to qualified residents who actually live on city-owned lots or construct new housing projects for the benefit of the homeless in the city,” Rosete said.

He discussed the Integration of Livelihood Opportunities in the Land for the Landless Program, Process Redesign, Shifting to Digital and Electronic Payments, Monitoring and Evaluation Plan and Integration of Multi-stream Management to improve their housing and urban development initiatives.

Rosete thanked De La Salle Araneta University, the City of Malabon University as well as his colleagues at the city government for supporting his research.
