There were two Jamaican winners on the day at the Miramar invitational track and field meet in Florida on Saturday.
Tyler Mason won the men’s 110m hurdles in 13.57 seconds ahead of American Eric Edwards, 13.60, and Brit Andrew Pozzi, 13.63. Another Jamaican Orlando Bennett ended 5th in 13.72.
The other Jamaica winner was Natasha Morrison who won the women’s 100m ‘B’ final.
Morrison won ahead MVP teammate Tina Clayton in 11.43 seconds, while Clayton clocked 11.50 just getting there ahead of Anderson Taylor of the US who ran 11.51. Jamaican Yanique Dayle was sixth in 11.83. In the ‘A’ final, Alana Reid was 7th in 11.62, while Shashalee Forbes did not finish. The race was won by American Mellissa Jefferson in 11.19.
Meanwhile, Akeem Blake was the next best placed Jamaican on the track as he finished second in the men’s 100m ‘A’ final. Blake and American winner Courtney Lindsay were each credited with 10.28 seconds. Fellow Jamaican Andre Ewers was third in 10.43.
National champion Rohan Watson and Yohan Blake were 7th and 8th respectively in 10.52.
Rusheen McDonald was third in the men’s 200m in 21.09 seconds behind the American pair of Kenny Bednarek, 20.35, and Christian Coleman, 20.43.
