Britons are bracing for yet another weekend of miserable weather as Storm Antoni sweeps across the country.
The first storm to be named by the Met Office this season, which runs from September 2022 to August 2023, is to bring rain and heavy winds to the British Isles.
The weather agency has issued two amber warnings for wind, to remain in place on Saturday between 11am to 7pm.
The alerts, focused on southwest Wales and southwest England, warn of the “danger to life” possibly posed by debris flying in the air by winds expected to break 60mph.
Buildings and particularly roofs may also be damaged and travel chaos is to be expected, the Met Office warning said, as road, rail, air and ferry services may be affected by the wind and rain.

The alert added there is a “good chance” people will experience power cuts.
The Met Office has also issued a yellow warning for wind over the rest of Wales not covered by the amber warning and a large chunk of eastern England.
Another yellow warning, this time for rain, has been enforced by the weather agency on most of Northern Ireland.
Met Office meteorologist Simon Partridge described Antoni as the “worst storm in over a year”, explaining its impact will be “much greater” given it is hitting the UK during the summer.

He also told the Telegraph: “Many people will be camping, using caravans and going to the beach as part of their summer holiday plans and this weather could pose a risk to them.”
Another expert, Met Office Chief Meteorologist Steve Willington, explained how “disruptive” this unseasonably windy weather could be.
He told the MailOnline: “Northern Ireland is likely to see some of the highest rainfall totals, with 40-60mm falling in some spots, but 20-30mm more widely.”
Mr Willington warned rain will likely hit also areas not affected by the alerts, explaining: “Away from the warning area many will still see a very wet day, especially in north Wales and north England.
“Storm Antoni will also bring strong winds to a swathe of Wales, southwest England and southern coastal areas of England.
“The strongest winds will affect parts southwest England and southwest Wales where exposed coasts and high ground could see gusts in excess of 60mph.
“In these areas, gusts inland could reach 50-55mph for a time. These windy conditions will likely coincide with high tides which will present an additional challenge for coastal areas.”
