A cannabis cultivator found to have more than 400 plants in his home was discovered hiding in his attic by police.
Nottinghamshire Police insists that Dori Sado, of Firemans Row in Sutton-in-Ashfield, could have “easily caused a very serious fire” with his cannabis grow.
Suspicion arose among the officers regarding the unusual heat emanating from Sado’s residence, which stood starkly against the neighbouring properties when viewed through a thermal imaging camera.
Police officers finally raided the property on February 23 and apprehended Sado hiding in the loft, reported Nottinghamshire Live. Pleading guilty at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday (May 31) to the production of cannabis, the 38-year-old was sentenced to a year in prison.
Furthermore, an injunction was issued on the location of the grow, barring anyone from occupying it for a time period of no less than three months.
Detective Sergeant Clint Gloyn from Nottinghamshire Police said: “Cannabis grows of this nature are a major fire risk and pose a significant danger to neighbouring properties.

“As is typical in these cases, the electrical supply in this property had been illegally bypassed and the outlets within were dangerously overloaded.”
“When combined with the huge quantity of flammable material inside the address, these illegal modifications could easily have caused a very serious fire. That’s why we urge residents to tell us about properties they believe are being used in this way as soon as possible.”
