PTM Partners and DoveHill Capital Management announced that Moxy St. Pete will open this summer, under management from the Wurzak Hotel Group. Located on Central Avenue, one of the most vibrant streets in Florida, the hotel will open as the new social hub of St. Pete. The newly built lifestyle hotel, thoughtfully designed by Storyn Studio for Architecture, will introduce 163 guest rooms and suites, a dynamic lobby featuring indoor and outdoor spaces, a large open-air bar and premium coffee café, work areas, and the neighborhood’s first rooftop pool deck with a poolside bar. Additionally, this fall, the hotel will open the second location of Sparrow, a Florida-favorite rooftop dining and nightlife experience.

Situated in the eclectic EDGE District on St. Pete’s Central Avenue, known for its artistic and lively atmosphere, Moxy St. Pete harmoniously aligns with the area’s singular personality. It buzzes with art, music, and culture, all with an authentic local touch.

“Moxy St. Pete represents more than just a hotel; it’s a reflection of the energy in the EDGE District as the neighborhood and St. Pete continue to grow into a true international destination,” said Nick Pantuliano, COO of PTM Partners. “This is first true lifestyle hotel in the St. Pete market that will cater to guests from all walks of life, which is exactly what the EDGE District represents. Through our partnership with DoveHill Capital Management and Wurzak Hotel Group, we’re excited to introduce a space that will anchor a fantastic mixed-use development in the EDGE Collective.”

Upon entry into the hotel, guests will step into an extension of Central Avenue, celebrated for its mural-lined streets and beautiful waterfront. Moxy St. Pete will welcome guests with a bright and playful lobby featuring mid-century modern design and laid-back Florida beach decor. Capturing the classic charm of St. Pete, the lobby’s focal point is a captivating mural showcasing a collage of botanical flora and fauna by Tampa artist Ashley Cassens.

The lobby offers diverse spaces for work and play, including live entertainment areas and a lush courtyard. Bar Moxy, the hotel’s lobby bar, will offer specialty cocktails and light dishes, the perfect kick-off to a hotel stay or for locals to have a drink.

Continuing through the lobby, guests can enjoy Rose’s Coffee Bar, an elevated coffee shop serving espresso-based beverages, cold brew, nitro, and drip coffee from Philadelphia-based La Colombe Coffee Roasters. Rose’s will offer breakfast, lunch, snacks, and smoothies for guests to start their morning, fuel their day, or take a snack break. Rose’s bespoke cafe-inspired ambiance seamlessly transitions between the hotel’s indoor and outdoor courtyard, blurring the boundaries between Central Avenue. and Moxy St. Pete. This location will mark the second Rose’s Coffee Bar, joining its first location in Fort Lauderdale.

“With Moxy St. Pete, we have created a vibrant and inspired hub to cater to both locals and travelers,” said Jake Wurzak, president of Wurzak Hotel Group and co-developer behind Moxy St. Pete. “Weaving in local traditions, artistry, and flavors, we’re delighted to bring a fusion of work and play to St. Pete through our experience-focused hotel. We look forward to contributing to the ongoing evolution of the EDGE Collective concept developed by our partners PTM.”

The hotel also houses a podcast studio in the lobby and 1,000 square feet of flexible meeting space, adorned with a summertime inspired pool mural playing on the viewer’s depth perception by Miami-based artist duo Allison Matherly & Jeffrey Noble. The hotel’s meeting room also features unique shuffleboard floors, a tribute to the St. Petersburg Shuffleboard Club, the oldest and largest in the world . The hotel’s 24/7 fitness center is equipped with a boxing bag, gymnastics equipment, Peloton bikes, and a full-circuit gym and features an outdoor workout space.

Moxy St. Pete’s inviting guest rooms range from 190 to 215 square feet, providing a cozy retreat equipped with plush beds, refreshing rain showers, and balconies. Each room is bathed in natural light from expansive floor-to-ceiling windows, offering a bright serene ambiance. Adorned in a neutral color palette accented by natural wood tones, the rooms feature vibrant artwork, adding a touch of personality. Complemented by thoughtful amenities and a minimalist, streamlined design, they are tech-forward, with spacious bathrooms.

Moxy St. Pete will be home to the neighborhood’s first rooftop destination. Located on the 7th floor, guests will be greeted by a pool surrounded by cabanas alongside Sip ‘n Dip, an open-air bar ideal for enjoying refreshing cocktails and handheld favorites. Miami-based artist Douglas Hoekzema, known as Hoxxoh, designed the rooftop’s complex geometric mural, raising the essence of the city seven stories.

Slated to open this fall, the highly anticipated Sparrow will boast uninterrupted city views from the area’s first rooftop bar and lounge. Drawing inspiration from the clean lines and natural materials of 1950s and 1960s American modernism, the 4,000-square-foot space will serve as a fun-filled hideaway. During the day, Sparrow will offer a cozy location for grabbing a bite and soaking up St. Pete sunshine under the shade of beautiful trees and rooftop landscaping. As night falls, Sparrow will become the city’s premiere nightlife destination, featuring Asian-inspired cuisine, craft cocktails, and sleek decor. Guests will enjoy panoramic views from every corner, including the indoor main bar, lounge, restaurant, and outdoor bar.

Storyn Studio for Architecture’s design for the Moxy St. Pete aims to celebrate the city’s architectural heritage with a new building that harmoniously complements its environment. The Moxy’s brick façade thoughtfully steps back to allow room for the lush tree canopies and pedestrian activities along the bustling Central Avenue. Storyn’s approach blends contemporary design with an understanding of human interaction between spaces; the Paseo and courtyards, between the new hotel and the adaptive reuse 1246 Central Avenue building, offer a tranquil escape, a convenient shortcut, or access to energetic ground-floor activity.

“It’s crucial to craft spaces that are simultaneously innovative and respectful of their historical contexts, fostering inclusivity and enhancing the identity of the EDGE community,” said Everald Colas, founding principal of Storyn Studio for Architecture. “Inspired by the Crislip and Snell arcades—spaces that facilitated north-south passage between buildings—our design creates an inviting area for visitors and locals to interact as they traverse the block.”

The hotel is a central facet of PTM Partners and DoveHill Capital Management’s EDGE Collective, a new 500,000-square-foot mixed-use destination called the EDGE Collective. Phase I will see the delivery of the Moxy by Marriott hotel and the redeveloped and modernized 1246 Central Avenue building, which includes 16,000 square feet of Class A office space and the recently announced and highly popular Bosphorous Turkish restaurant on the ground floor.
