News Investigators/ Safiyanu Isa-Andaha, chairman of Akwanga LGA of Nasarawa who was abducted on Monday by gunmen, has been released.

Mr. Isa-Andaha was kidnapped by gunmen at Ningo village on New Year Day alongside his friend.

Police spokesman in Nasarawa, Rahman Nansel, who confirmed his release in a message on Wednesday, 3 January 2024, said the chairman was released at about 8 pm on Tuesday.

The abducted had contacted the family to demand for N50million ransom on Tuesday.

But according to Mr. Nansel, no ransom was paid to secure Mr. Isa-Andaha’s release. He regained freedom after security operatives mounted pressure on the abductors,” the police stated.

He said Isa-Andaha was released alongside three others, adding that they would be reunited with their families after they have undergone medical examination.

“No ransom was paid. The chairman and the person the abductors contacted confirmed to us that no dime was paid,” he said.

“They were released at about 8:40pm due to sustained pressure mounted on them by our operatives deployed on their trail.”
