4-time Jamaican former champion jockey Dane Nelson reeled off a natural hattrick on Friday night’s 9-race card at the Century Mile Race Track in Edmonton, Canada.
Nelson first guided home the 3-5 favourite examiner to victory in the third event over 6 furlongs.
He followed up with the 2-1 chance Bootiful Rose in race number 4 and closed out his hattrick by bringing the 4-5 favourite Mi Reyna from off the pace in the 5th event.
The race was an allowance optional claiming contest over 6 and a half furlongs on the dirt for as purse of $20,000.
Nelson is now leading the early race for the jockey’s championship with stakes earnings of just under $168,000. He has 13 victories so far from 60 mounts.
