Never too early to start dreaming of a white Christmas

Season 61 of the Musical Comedy Guild opens with a performance of Irving Berlin’s classic film — and even though it’s summer, the cast is ready to start rehearsing

It’s never too early to start dreaming of a white Christmas. Or in this case, the actual musical White Christmas.

Although the festive season is still six months away, the Musical Comedy Guild of Sault Ste. Marie is “absolutely jolly” to announce the cast for its performance of Irving Berlin’s Christmas classic — which will be the opening show of the guild’s 61st season.

All told, 42 performers have made the cut.

Leading the cast are Andrew Brienesse as Bob Wallace, Andrew Stuetz as Phil Davis, Danielle Ritsema as Betty Haynes and Lauren Kinney as Judy Haynes. Joining them will be Dave Yule as General Waverly and Emily Youngson as Martha Watson. Rounding out the cast are Rick Borean as Mike Nulty, Bernie Stuetz as Ralph Sheldrake, Aidan Allen as Ezekiel Foster, and we are thrilled to introduce Elizabeth Ritsema as the precocious Susan.

Also a part of the cast are Rayann Basawa, Maggie Chapman, Wendylynn Corrigan, Ariella D’Agostino, Joel D’Souza, Kerri Findlay, Colin Gasparelli, Penny Gribbon, Cass Haines, Leith Harris, Silvana Huckson, Sarah Huckson, Maria Kahtava, Chelsey Lesage, Monique Lucenay, Lizz McIntosh, Chris Moore, Chris Mozarowski, Mary Anne Nakamura, Rose Panico, Darryl Patterson, Darla Pirillo, Zephyr Rouleau, Kate Sillberg, Louise Stephens, Krissy Strickland, Amelia Stuetz, Ashton Sommers, Wayne A. Thompson, Kelsey Wade, Kyle Wilson and Laura Zargi.

“The cast includes theatre veterans, newcomers, family groups, and some folks who were in the Sault Symphony production of this classic show years ago — including the director,” a news release says.

The cast will also be joined by special guests from Elite Dance Force to bring the big production numbers to life.

The Musical Comedy Guild has also announced a special partnership with Christmas Cheer to help make the season bright for more folks this Christmas. Special promotions will be announced leading into the show, which kicks off in early-December, and Christmas.

The performance is directed by Timothy Murphy and produced by Kim Smith-Bahry. The stage management team is led by Candace Withers.
