New editor of ‘Washington Post’ steps down amid backlash linked to ethics claims

Newly-named Washington Post editor Robert Winnett has decided not to take the job and will remain in the UK amid leadership turmoil at the news organisation.

The Post’s chief executive and publisher, Will Lewis, announced Mr Winnett’s decision to withdraw in a note to staff on Thursday morning.
